It’s COOL to be an administrative professional because you get an entire week of celebration. No other career gets a full week of recognition. Granted, some administrative professionals have told me they feel strange about a week focusing on them and if they are supposed to be considered equal to other members in the organization, they should not have a week devoted to their career. What do you think?

I understand that perspective and we are working hard every day to teach managers see their administrative partners as their strategic business partners. Yet, you do have a special week devoted to your profession; so embrace it and enjoy it!

This is a busy week for me and I am enjoying meeting administrative professionals from all walks of life. I was in Denver earlier this week and am heading to Seattle today. As I reflect on owning Office Dynamics for 20 years now, I am thankful for the thousands of administrative professionals whose lives I have been able to touch in some way, shape or form; whether it was in a live training session, through webcasts, audio conferences, through my books, blogs, or emails. It has been an honor for me to serve this profession through leadership, training, and coaching.

I look forward to branching out in new areas and providing you with very COOL tools for your very COOL profession. The entire team at Office Dynamics wishes you a fabulous Administrative Professionals Day.

When I first chose the administrative professional career I was excited about celebrating Administrative Professionals' Day. Now that I have been in the role of being a strategic partner with the company owner this day has not held as much excitement as in the past and I think it is the feeling of why do administrative professionals have a special day but no other office position is celebrated other than the boss. Even so I certainly embrace the celebration and involve all office positions to be celebrated as well.

Happy Administrative Professional's Day to all in our profession. I am sad to say that not 1 member of my team has even mentioned it being APD :( Happy for those of you whom are honored an entire week. Maybe one day that will happen in my career. My big boss in Atlanta always makes me smile, but my on-site team hasn't even mentioned it :(

Praying for all of you out there & many blessings on YOUR SPECIAL DAY!!

This is my second year not having anyone that I would expect to recognize APD on my behalf, but I have been sharing the greetings with those who are former colleagues and current co-workers and I wish all the best to all those out there!

Each day is your day, it only takes you knowing it!

I am privileged to work at an organization that recognizes the contributions our administrative professionals bring to the company. Each year, my executive and other Senior Management members take us out to lunch or they do something special for us. But they don't want until this day to acknowledge the good work we do. Each day, they make sure they thank us for our work and many times they come in with special treats to make our days.

Although I know that not all professions have a day or week dedicated to them, I don't feel bad about us having one because I know that as we said a couple of days ago we are the glue that holds together many of our organizations. We many times work behind-the-scenes and I'm sad to say that many don't appreciate their assistants as RSAT states in her message.

But please know that you are invaluable to this profession and if we work together, as Joan and her team have been doing, and uplift our professions and show they world how important our roles are, I am sure one day we will get the recognition we deserve.

Happy Administrative Professional's Day!

I'm fortunate enough to work with a group of people that not only give cards for APW but take the time to say "Thank you for all you do for us!". My mentors like Joan and Jasmine help me to shine and my team notices all the details put forth in my job. Thank you to you wonderful ladies and all admins that help me on daily basis. I'm proud to be a WCA and belong to a group of professionals that take pride in their work and themselves!

Happy Administrative Professional day!

I've had a good day, led my last IAAP meeting as President and got to network with my favorite admins! I miss my previous Director who always made a big deal of this day, but my happiness isn't dependent on anyone else so Happy APD to me! :)

I have never been big on this day, as I am fortunate that the people I work with appreciate and acknowledge my efforts and contributions every day. I have to be honest though that I was thrilled to get a meeting invitation from my boss with the subject "Celebrate Anita."

Happy Administrative Professionals Day to all of you!

Sheila, my dear, I'm in the same boat as you this year. Actually my last boss called me today to wish me a happy APD! I was somewhat disappointed with the leadership today because one director recognized her admin, but obviously didn't share with the other directors (and they meet every Monday morning). All that aside, I'm still very much happy with my job and with my career choice.

And as a side note, IAAP did market APW/APD this year to include all Office Professionals. They felt it was important to expand the recognition.

I am a day late but still wish you all a Happy Administrative Professionals Day and week!

Some of my bosses do not acknowledge the day, some forget and some spoil me. But when it comes down to it, I always feel appreciated and always of their support! This makes my job so much easier and enjoyable.

Personally, I think a one-day recognition would suffice, but my theory on why we receive a full week is because someone realized the incredible load Admins bear WHILE making it all look easy (read: Samantha on Bewitched). There's a wee bit of guilt built into that week; perhaps they're making up for lost kudos?
