Hello Monday Motivators!
You are the first to get a peek at a chapter from our new book for executive and administrative and executive assistants coming out March 1, 2012 entitled Who Took My Pen . . . Again?
I am sure you are wondering what writing project I was working on for 2 months when I took a break from Monday Motivators! Jasmine Freeman, Nancy Fraze, and I have been working on an awesome collaborative project that was born at our 18th Annual Conference for Administrative Excellence the end of September. 240 administrative professionals from around the world contributed ideas to the book on how to add value every day in the work place. I can't give too much away yet but I can tell you that come early March, we will rock the administrative world by providing creative strategies for achieving success.
If you are not an administrative professional reading Monday Motivators, that is ok as you can still learn from today's Monday Motivator, which is be a Change Agent. Please notice this is copyrighted material and may not be cut and pasted anywhere. You may forward this Monday Motivator to peers.
We will have a dedicated web site for the book beginning early March with awesome tools to support administrative professionals worldwide.

BEING A CHANGE AGENT
(excerpt from Who Took My Pen . . . Again?)
"Mark Zuckerberg. Bill Gates. Shawn Fanning. Alexander Graham Bell. Thomas Watson. Thomas Edison. Jonas Salk. Henry Ford. Each of these individuals are (or were) change agents.
A change agent is someone who adds value by strategically re-thinking what has always been done. She adds new thought and wisdom to mundane or critical tasks. She solves problems and improves the world, one day or task at a time. A change agent has the courage to see things that are and know they could be better, and to see things that aren't yet, and work, dream, plan, and learn about them, in order to bring them into reality.
Short and simple: A change agent optimizes and capitalizes on getting something different than what has already been got. They work on game-changing the game during turbulent, troubled times, keeping their eye on the ball and on the vision of their company, never losing sight of purpose.
Being a change agent takes courage, strength, and consistency. Change agents are the backbone of the organization. They are creative, resilient, and relevant. They add value by streamlining, dreaming, solving, strategizing, developing, creating, organizing, and participating. Change agents do not sit on the sidelines watching the world go by. They show up, every day, and take their place with responsibility and passion."
~~~~~
Based on what you just read, think about how you can be a change agent at work, at home, in your community, and other aspects of your life. Each day passes quickly so do not sit on the sidelines; be in the game and even run the ball the down the field.
Have a fantastic week!
