(Excerpt from a session at our 16th Annual Conference for Administrative Excellence)
Tim Schneider, President of Soaring Eagles Enterprises (Las Vegas) energized our attendees and provided us with great ways to stay rational with today's crazy workplace environment.
One piece I really liked is when Tim told us that lean and difficult times: 1) Are inevitable. 2) Do not last. 3) Represent an opportunity. 4) Produce great people. "The legacy of a business or organizational leader is largely defined by the response to difficult times and not their caretaking during good times!" Wow, that caught my attention.
Here are some of his strategies for coping and staying sane:
1. Manage the sphere of concern and influence.
2. Avoid panic.
3. Keep routines.
4. Improve relationships.
5. Refer to history.
6. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
7. Return to basics and core values.
8. Do some new stuff.
9. Manage thyself.
