Professional Business Image for Executive Assistants, Create Your Professional Brand

Posted by: Joan Burge on 9/16/2009

Creating your brand means creating your trademark. It's about how you want other to know you and how they would describe you to others. It makes a statement about who you are as a person.

Think about your organization. They selected a particular logo, color, font, and created marketing materials (including their web site) that says to the public who they want to be. They selected the colors for a reason! The font they selected will give a message of we are: contemporary; traditional; cutting edge; or conservative and more.

Now, think of yourself as You Inc. What does the way you dress say about you? Do you dress with consistency or are you perceived as being all over the place? What about the color clothing you select? Then go beyond your clothing -- hair, nails, shoes, hose or no hose and more! The list goes on and on.

Does your brand say -- I'm silly? Serious? Frugal? Edgy? Professional? Going to the supermarket?

Your Brand goes beyond clothing and appearance. Brands can be such things as:
* Mary is always organized and knows where everything is
* Sue is punctual -- for everything!
* Brenda is conscientious and pays attention to detail
* Connie always has a good attitude -- always says hello when I come in the door

There is the Brand you are trying to project and then there is the Brand or your trademark that others see. A negative trademark would be "Sue never talks unless you ask her a question."

Think.... what do you want your trademark to be? What do you want your brand to reflect? Is it time for an update?
